Kenny Lacquette

Our dear friend and long-time WCVer, Kenny Lacquette passed away on February 20, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was admitted earlier in a state of “general decline”.

Kenny was an active member of our community since near the beginning. Drop-in, the School of Justice, Freedom House, Flatlanders and Sunday mornings were all enlivened by his smile, laughter and camaraderie. He even made a trip to Nepal to visit the Vineyards there.

He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held. We’re just working out the details and will let you know as soon as plans are finalized.

  1. You have taken the precious
From the worthless and given us
Beauty for ashes, love for hate
You have chosen the weak things
Of the world to shame that which is strong
And foolish things to shame the wise
You are help to the helpless
    Strength to the strengthless
And a father to the child who’s left alone
    And the thirsty You’ve invited
    To come to the waters
And those who have no money come and buy
    So come
    So come
    So come
    So come
    Behold the days are coming
    For the Lord has promised
That the plowman will overtake the reaper
And our hearts will be the threshing floor
And the move of God we’ve cried out for Will come,
    It…

  4. Sad to hear. Kenny encouraged me many times. One of my memories, was when I managed a block of apartments, he asked if I had any work for him, and would come and help clean, paint. He would share with me tips of wisdom also many times. We shared some good times of joy, tears and laughter.

  7. I too was heartbroken to hear of Kenny’’s passing. John looked for him before Christmas but nobody seemed to know where he was. Kenny has been part of our journey since our first BBQ at St John’s Park. He would often tell the story of our first meeting. I especially enjoyed the times he would spend with us at the cottage. I will miss him a lot. Because we were both on dialysis I would be in the same unit and we would have a good visit. Such a comfort to know that he is now with Jesus.

  8. Kenny was one of the first people i met at WCV. I talked with him almost every time i was in Winnipeg. RIP brother.

  9. I am heartbroken. Kenny was a huge part of my days at the vineyard. I remember his laugh, his smile and his ability to poke fun at himself and those around him.
