Core Connection Course 2022

We are going to be hosting three evenings of storytelling and teaching designed to connect you with the heart, vision and practices of WCV. Sometimes we all need a reminder of why we’re here, what God wants to do among us and through us, and what kind of community we are becoming. These evenings will do just that.

They are for newcomers to the community, old-timers who’ve been around forever, and anyone in between.

Connect to:

  • Our Vision,
  • WCV’s Core Practices & Vineyard Values,
  • Where we’ve come from and where we’re going,
  • The kind of community God is calling us to become,
  • Each other!

Mondays March 14, 21, & 28 at 7pm at WCV

For those unable to come in-person, please contact the office as we will have an alternate solution for you!

Community Catalyst Opportunity

Our next Community Catalyst event is March 9 – and we need your input!

During our next gathering we’re going to review our Core Driving Needs with each other and then apply them to the church as a whole. How are they being met, or not? How are we creating a culture and community that energizes people, or not? In what ways could we adapt or shift the way we do things in order to unlock more of the Spirit’s gifts of belonging, security, freedom, significance and meaning in our community’s life?

It’s going to be interactive and practical. We expect that some of what we discuss and hear at this meeting will have a direct impact on our AGM April 11. We would love to have your input and perspective.

>>Wednesday, March 9, 7 – 9pm<<

Community Catalysts is our new yearly rhythm for everyone who wants to or is leading, influencing or serving the WCV community in some way shape or form. We’re calling you “catalysts” because you initiate activity, events or change within the WCV community in a positive way.

catalyst [ kat-l-ist ] “Something (or someone) that causes activity, an event or change.”

With this in mind, the goal of Community Catalysts is threefold:

    1. to encourage each other with connection and fun
    2. to equip each other with relevant training
    3. to envision each other to what God is calling us to

This is why we call you catalysts (1:22):…

Community Catalysts: encourage, equip, envision

Community Catalysts is a new yearly rhythm of three gatherings for everyone who wants to or is leading, influencing or serving the WCV community in some way shape or form. We’re calling you “catalysts” because you initiate activity, events or change within the WCV community in a positive way.

    1. to encourage each other with connection and fun
    2. to equip each other with relevant training
    3. to envision each other to what God is calling us to

The first Community Catalyst event is Monday, May 17, 7 – 9pm and we have something special lined up…

We have engaged Vineyard Canada’s Leadership Development Team (Sherry Ansloos is part of this team) who are providing us with some high quality experiences that will help us “connect on what matters most”. This interactive training will be guided by Brady Wilson (Vineyard Canada National Team and CEO of Juice Inc.).

To get a taste of what Brady will offer us, you can watch his Ted Talk entitled “How to Fix the Exhausted Brain”:

Here’s the summary of what we’ll explore:

    • How do we call out the best in each other as a community?
    • How do we unlock energy in ourselves and in those we serve and lead?
    • How do we connect on what matters most to each other in order to accomplish the mission God has given us?

These are the kind of questions Brady will discuss in this highly engaging and interactive time together. You won’t want to miss it! This first gathering will provide the foundation on which we will build subsequent Community Catalyst events in the Fall of 2021 and Winter 2022 with Brady and the Vineyard Canada Leadership Development team.

Who is this for?:

Everyone who wants to or is leading or serving in WCV in some way is welcome to participate. If you’re in high school now or those school days are ancient history, you are welcome to come!

Family Game Night

Hey WCV family – we’re going to be having a games night on Jan 1, 2021.

We are going to play a game called, “Who Said That?” It’s a Bible trivia game for players to identify the speaker, and for more points, the book, chapter and verse – making it fun for a wide variety of Bible scholarship. It would be great if we could have families sign up as a team so we can create a round-robin play, since it will work best if we have one team facing off against another team for a series of questions and then move on to another two teams, etc.

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

Game: Who (in the Bible) Said That?

Friday, January 1 at 6:30 PM

Zoom link will be shared beforehand.

Register your team (family) to play this fun game and test your Bible chat skills!

All family sizes and ages are welcome to join in!

Connect This Fall

This season is one of re-connecting.  All sorts of things begin to ramp up again after the summer.  Here are a few of them:

  • Regular length services (10am – 11:45am) begin again on Sept 11.  Kid’s church will also begin on this day.
  • Community Life Sunday is Sept 18.  This is a Sunday during which we highlight a number of opportunities to connect in the Vineyard.  On this particular Sunday, we’ll also be praying for a number of new leaders.
  • Welcome Party is Sept 18.  These are for newcomers to the Vineyard and are a great opportunities to gather with a few leaders and other newcomers.  We gather right after the service for a light lunch together.  Contact the office to sign up.  Kids are welcome.
  • The Upstairs Gathering will resume on Sept 25.  We will be beginning the first number of Sundays with Prayer Ministry Training during the teaching time.
  • Connecting Classes start Sept 26.  These are a series of 4 classes (Sept 26, Oct 3, Oct 17, Oct 24) that explore WCV’s vision, values and Core Practices.  If you want to know more about WCV and if you’re looking for ways to connect, this is for you.  Contact the office to sign up.  7 – 9pm.
  • Volunteer – there are many ways to get involved and volunteer your time and energy this season.  Our Sunday gatherings are wonderful, but also need many hands.  Sound people, Projectionists, Kids leaders and helpers, Coffee, Greeters, Offering.  These are all great ways to build relationships and serve the community in meaningful ways.  Contact the office for more information on any of the above opportunities.
  • House Groups – there are a few new groups beginning this Fall.  House Groups are great ways to “do church” on a smaller scale.  Watch for details.
  • Outer Circle – our final gathering of 2016 will be Oct 15.
