Our WCV Kids Church will resume next Sunday, September 16th. This Sunday’s service will continue to model our typical summer schedule. A video series is being shown in the Comfy Couch Room during the sermon as an option for the kids. Parents are asked to stay with their children if they are watching the video. All are welcome to remain in the service as well.

Some Resources on Grief
Hey everyone,
Here are some resources on grief that were available on Sunday, August 19, 2018. They will also be available at church during our meetings this week:
The Open Care Night, August 21, 2018 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. This will be a come-and-go evening that will have people ready and available to talk and pray, a quiet space in the sanctuary for prayer, and some resources on how to process this in a good way. We will also have suggestions on who to contact if you need professional counselling.
Prayer Night, August 23, 2018 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. This will be an evening during which we gather together to call out to God for mercy, wisdom and healing for all involved. Be assured that so much prayer has already covered us, but we need to continue to turn to God in this time.
And lastly, if you need to talk about this, please reach out to any of the staff, elders or BOD members. If you don’t know who to reach out to, you can call Andy’s office phone at 204-582-2900 x13. The team will be organizing care from there.

2018 MENS GETAWAY ANNOUNCEMENT
We regret to advise that this year’s GETAWAY is being cancelled.
The Pastoral staff are dealing with recent developments within the church and find it impossible to give adequate time to this event in the next weeks.
We know that our times together are significant for all who come.
We will look forward to next year.
Thanks for your understanding,
John Rademaker
Community Campout Survey
Our annual WCV Community Campout has been a valued tradition for many years. These weekends provide a prolonged time of connection and fun for those who come. We’d love to see more people make it out so we are asking for a little feedback. Please help us by taking a moment to fill out the survey below. We want to hear from you![gravityform id=”23″ title=”true” description=”true”]
WCV Community Campout
About 40 of us made it out to our annual community campout over the long weekend. The weather was just right, the fire well tended, friendship was nurtured and the food kept flowing as we shared with one another. There is something special about being together like this – away from the busyness of city life. We welcomed in new friends and sat with old friends too. Some highlights this year included a C.S. Lewis read aloud around the fire, an entertaining game of Jenga and a delicious feast that was joyfully prepared by Bill and Katherine. In the middle of it all, one member of our community looked up and said, “People are so generous here.” It’s really true. Thank you to everyone who came out. You extended love to each other in such beautiful ways.

Vineyard Himalayas Stories and Vision Night
You are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 18th at 7:00pm for an evening with Pastor Noel Isaacs. Since it’s beginnings, Winnipeg Centre Vineyard has had a special connection with the Himalayan Region Vineyard (HRV) and the work that is happening there. Noel Isaacs planted the first Vineyard church in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1995 and he’s continued to serve and lead the HRV for the past 23 years. Over the years, many people from WCV have visited the HRV churches and meaningful relationships have developed between us.
“The HRV churches have been a steady source of healing and hope in their communities.”
Noel will share stories from the region and explain the heart and vision behind this work. He will also provide an update about the restoration and reconstruction of the churches and homes that were damaged or destroyed by the 8.0 earthquake Nepal suffered in April of 2015. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear first-hand about the ways in which the HRV churches have been a source of healing and hope in their communities throughout this time.
WCV Community Campout 2018
Our annual WCV Community Campout is just around the corner. Good things happen gathered around a fire and we’d love for you to be there! Join us June 29-July 1 at Birds Hill Park. The cost is $30 per tent for the weekend. If you are unable to make it out for the whole weekend consider coming for the day on Saturday or Sunday. Our regular Sunday service will be held at the campground followed by a baptismal service at the beach.
This weekend provides a place to connect as a community in new ways. Please contact the office or fill out the form below to register.

Immanuel Prayer Training & Workshop
“For the broken places in our lives . . . ”
One of the consequences of living in a broken world is that we experience emotional pain. That pain often results in an emotional wound. An emotional wound, just like a physical wound, needs to heal or it has life-long consequences.
Immanuel Prayer is a model for inner healing ministry that revisits the places of emotional pain and wounding in our lives. Jesus knows where those areas of our lives are and faithfully and lovingly visits them with us, speaking healing words of truth and grace. This model of inner healing prayer is based on the meaning of Immanuel: God with Us. Jesus was there in the most painful moments of our lives whether we were aware of his presence or not. Immanuel Prayer is ministry to the unresolved emotional pain we carry with us.
The more whole we are, the more room there is for others in us. The more whole we are, the more capacity we have to love.
We will be hosting an Immanuel Prayer Training and Workshop with Danny Mullins.
Saturday, June 9th | 782 Main Street | 9:00am-4:00pm | $25 per person or $40 per couple
There are a limited number of subsidies available upon request. Please contact the office for payment and registration here.

Christmas at the Vineyard, 2017
Hey folks! So the Christmas season is upon us once again! (Hold on as I pour myself another mug of eggnog).
Below are a few events I’d like to highlight that will be happening at the Vineyard for this 2017 Christmas season:
- Our kids and youth will be leading us in worship and throughout the morning on December 10th for our annual Kids Service Sunday.
- On December 17th right after the service we want to celebrate and feast together as a family and community for the annual Christmas Feast!
- On December 24th, as it is both a Sunday and Christmas Eve, we will gather in the morning for a shortened Christmas Eve Service from 10-11:15 a.m. Please note there will be no evening service on this day.
- We will also have a shortened service on December 31st from 10-11:15 a.m. for a New Year’s Eve Service.
Through all the hustle and bustle that the Christmas season brings, let’s remember our Centre, whom we are celebrating.
Blessings!
Woven Together: The Art of Textiles
Flatlanders Studio is proud to present Woven Together: The Art of Textiles, by Naila Janzen and Johanna Giebrecht. Woven Together is a celebration of art that can be found in everyday lives; from the items that are daily utilized to the relationships forged.
We find ourselves in a society that has devalued traditional crafts. We have lost the ability to see and appreciate the artistry of well crafted items. “We would like the world to see that just because a work of skill can be put to a purpose does not diminish its artistry.”
Two perspectives brought together by two friends. “As we share our lives together, and our love for our craft, the threads of our lives find overlapping themes and we are woven together.”
Nov. 3 – Dec. 30, 2017 in the Flatlanders Studio. Free Admission!
Flatlanders Studio Show: Selcouth
Flatlanders Studio is hosting a new art show Selcouth: A Look Into the Upbringing of Winnipeg’s Metal Musicians by Amy Lee Zinn.
Selcouth traces 20 individuals who are active members of the metal community at large in Winnipeg, representing many different sub-genres, roles, personalities and backgrounds, while still remaining just a small snapshot of the much larger metal family in our city. More than just contradicting stereotypes, Selcouth looks to explore the individual people who make up and help create the metal scene to which they belong, and discover who they are as a person, their journey into the scene, and what surprisingly common threads tie each person together in a “scary” subculture that relies on community, cooperation and support to keep itself together.
All profits will be donated to The Manitoba Conservatory of Music & Arts.

Parking Lot Movie Set
Our parking lot is becoming a movie set for one week in September. Netflix will be filming a scene in a “post tsunami disaster in Seattle” movie called “How It Ends”. The props will include numerous smashed vehicles which will be piled up against the building by the disaster (the cars won’t actually touch the building).
We want to you know about this so you are not alarmed! There will be 24/7 security outside and a fence to secure the set. Access to the building will still be at the South doors during normal office hours.
The parking will be compromised for one Sunday, Sept 17. Access will still be available at the South and West doors via established corridors. However, a portion of the parking lot will be occupied by the set. However the city of Winnipeg has allowed parking on either side of the street of Sutherland Avenue between Main Street and Derby Street. That means for us that latecomers will have to walk slightly further! So make sure you arrive at 10 a.m.!
This is a major rental for WCV that will contribute significantly to our income budget. We hope any inconvenience you experience will be minimal. Please direct any questions or concerns to John (228-0042) or Jeff (295-2349).
While there may be a few Hollywood stars on set, Jesus is still our True North!
